I have attended the Jozi book fair many times but the one I am from now, Rutanang Book Fair, is a BOMB!!! Not only having Presley Chweneyagae, Sabata-mpho Mokae, Elinor Sisulu, Andile Mngxitama, etc, but having artists and writers from different parts of Africa was least expected. Having Sam Present, Dathini Gwili and Dudu Modise who told the story and history of Tlokwe was necessary to impart knowledge. I was greatly impressed by the performance of Sabata-mpho Mokae, Kgafela le Marabele and all other artists whose names I have forgotten. How I wished that I stayed until the whole session ended. Pity I had to come back to Jozi. You guys (Tseko Nkhane & Mbulelo Mngxitama) have put Tlokwe on the map.
There will be more reasons to go home to Tlokwe every weekend to pledge my support to the course, donate some of my books and read stories to the children at the churches and other social spaces. I’m proud of you guys. You have inspired me and made me realise that I have to share my knowledgde with the children of Tlokwe.
The Department of Arts and Culture and Tlokwe Municipality blessed the event by supporting it wholly. Thank you for that. How can I forget to thank Bra Max le Phina for their generosity and for availing their places to host the event. You guys rock – big up to you. I’m so excited I lack words to praise you. When I left Ikageng at Bra Max’s place, I saw joyful people who were enjoying themselves. With the support of everyone who attended the Book Fair, Tlokwe will never be the same again.
