In a statement issued this evening, Black First Land First (BLF), has stated that it is being attacked by “WMC and its agents” who are trying to silence it from further exposing white corruption and spreading the message of revolution .
The radical black consciousness movement has since its inception in August 2015 been involved in various direct actions and other interventions to expose apartheid era corruption and related economic crimes. This has seemingly led to the finding recently by the Public Protector that ABSA must pay back over R1 million that it had stolen from the South African Reserve Bank (SARB). BLF is also currently engaged in protest action against the white owned media and white journalists regarding their massive cover-up of white corruption, for example the over R4.3 billion allegedly looted from Treasury during the tenures of Pravin Gordhan and Ndlandla Nene each as Minister of Finance respectively.
“The website of our movement was shutdown for a couple of days … the facebook account of the President of BLF has been suspended for more than 30 days … the gmail account of BLF has also been shut down” and “the Twitter account of the President of BLF had been suspended for more than 12 hours”, the movement said.
BLF has vowed unwavering commitment to fight all the injustices against it “by any means necessary”. WMC, according to BLF, is hellbent on silencing it but it “shall not succeed”.
Black Opinion is re-issuing the full statement of BLF which was previously published on the BLF website:
White Monopoly Capital involved in a dirty war against BLF
Since the escalation of Black First Land First’s struggle against white monopoly capital (WMC) – from demanding that #ABSAMustPayBackTheMoney, to confronting white racist journalists, to exposing the corruption of WMC – our movement has come under direct attack from WMC and its agents.
Those who claim to protect and to promote the freedom of the media and freedom of expression have been shown to be fascists who don’t believe in any of these. These people and organisations are trying to shut down the voice of Black First Land First (BLF) and its leaders. The website of our movement was shutdown for couple of days, not long ago. Similarly, the facebook account of the President of BLF has been suspended for more than 30 days. Now it transpires that the gmail account of BLF has also been shut down. Furthermore, the Twitter account of the President of BLF had been suspended for more than 12 hours. These are new and concerted efforts to shut down the voice of the voiceless – the voice of black people. BLF is a revolutionary movement that is committed to fighting for the liberation of black people and it shall not be silenced. We want society to know that those who claim to stand for democracy, who say that they respect the Rule of Law, who say that they fight for freedom of expression and media freedom, do not support any of these. They just want to have monopoly over the narrative of the country so that they can control the minds of our people and lie to them. This serves, as intended, to distract the nation from the fact that in South Africa the problem remains WMC which stole our land, oppressed our people and exploited the working class.
We remain committed to fighting by any means necessary against all these injustices. The attempts by WMC to destroy us – via fake news, slander, intimidation, and shutting down our social media platforms (including our gmail account)- shall not succeed. Our movement is guided by the spirit of Steve Biko, Robert Sobukwe and all the warriors of the past who fought against this evil system.
We shall not be intimidated! We shall not be silenced!
