Mbeki the sophist

Thabo Mbeki has characterised radical economic transformation (RET) as counter-revolutionary. He is a consummate sophist – cunning, deceitful, devious. He uses concepts upside down to advance his neoliberal agenda. We do well to remember how he spoke about African Renaissance whilst implementing the pro-white and imperialist Word Bank inspired GEAR policy.

When Pallo Jordan objected to the Thatcherite policy, Mbeki responded by saying “call me Thatcherite”, and he fired him from cabinet.

RET in reality seeks to reverse the negative impact of the GEAR years of virulent privatisation and joblesness. GEAR was counter revolutionary. RET is a revolutionary minimum program to end economic oppression. Mbeki the sophist calls it counter revolutionary.
We need to debunk the intellectualism that Mbeki claims, and expose its empty shell of Thatcherism using progressive rethoric for reactionary ends.
